Privacy Policy
Crossword Ninjas · Effective October 27, 2026
This policy explains what information the Crossword Ninjas app ("the app", "we") handles. The app is published by an individual developer, who can be reached at cptech611@gmail.com.
Information we collect
We don't collect personal information ourselves. The app has no accounts and no sign-in, and it doesn't ask for your name, email, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
Information stored on your device
Your puzzle progress, statistics, streak, hints and settings are saved only on your device so you can continue where you left off. This data is never sent to us. Deleting the app deletes it.
Downloading new puzzles
When you're online, the app checks for and downloads new puzzles from our content server, hosted on Google Firebase Hosting. Like any website, the server receives your IP address and basic request details (such as the time and the file requested) in order to deliver the files. We don't send any information about you or your progress with these requests, and we don't use them to identify you. Google handles this under its privacy policy.
Advertising
The app is free and shows ads: banners and occasional full-screen ads. Ads are delivered by Unity LevelPlay (formerly ironSource), which selects ads from these partner networks: Unity Ads, AppLovin, Meta Audience Network and Google AdMob.
To show and measure ads, these companies may collect information from your device, such as:
- the device's advertising identifier (on iPhone and iPad, only if you allow tracking when asked)
- IP address and the approximate location it implies (country or city level, not GPS)
- device type, operating system, language and app version
- which ads were shown and whether they were tapped
They use it to choose ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and prevent fraud. Each company handles this data under its own privacy policy: Unity / LevelPlay, AppLovin, Meta, Google.
In-app purchase
You can buy Remove Ads, a one-time purchase. Payment is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play; we never see your name, payment details or account. The app checks with the store on your device whether you own Remove Ads, and remembers the answer on your device. Nothing about your purchase is sent to us, apart from the sales reports Apple and Google give every developer, which don't identify you.
Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder in Settings, the app asks for permission to send notifications and schedules the reminder on your device. No notification data is sent to us or anyone else. You can turn it off in the app's Settings or your device settings.
Sharing your results
When you share a result, the app opens your device's share sheet with a short text summary. You choose where it goes; nothing is sent to us.
Your choices
- iPhone and iPad: the app asks once whether it may track you for personalized ads. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", ads are still shown but aren't personalized using your advertising identifier. You can change this anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, in your device's Google or Privacy settings.
- No ads: buying Remove Ads turns off full-screen ads (the small banner stays).
Depending on where you live (for example, some US states), sharing information for targeted advertising may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can opt out using the device settings above.
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you. We don't share them.
Children
The app is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. Ads in the app are not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
We'll post any changes on this page and update the effective date above.
